Clothes washer shopping-suggestions?

I am shopping for a clothes washer.
The old one (23+ y.o.) I have been using has finally bit the dust (or dirt, grease or grime?)
I have taken this one apart in aim to repair it myself, only to call Sears for their price for this part only to feel overwhelmed by their repair parts price!
Generally, which brand is more durable and longer-lasting? I have seen various styles of clothes washers as each model claims thiers is best.
I live in an area where I use hard water from my well. Do any models clean "better" with any type (hard - well or chlorinated - city) water over the other?
I am single, so no one else (??) is planning to use this machine than myself.

If you are into "self repair", the best washer to buy is the Whirlpool top loader... Kenmore top loaders are the same IF IT IS THE DIRECT DRIVE type - made by Whirlpool!!!! These are the most reliable I've found, the easiest to repair, and the least expensive parts. I've been in Home Appliance repair for the last 15 years, so this is from a repairman's perspective. There does not seem to be much difference from the hard water side, Calcium gums up certain parts in any washer... Mainly the water valve, pump, & hoses.... The valve & pump on the direct drive models are not too expensive, and this design has been around for years!!!!

i was supposed to be getting a package from my mom and she mailed it express by fedex......well when she gave me the tracking number and tracked it just fine and everything and it said the package was between the front doors and my house....well when i got home from work there was nothing there.....and i called the 800 number for fedex and they said they r going to investigate it and im supposed to call in tomorrow.....will i get the package back and when will i get it back cause they said there going to call the driver that was supposed to delever the package to my house....so can somebody please tell im going to get my package and when do u think

It was probably stolen, and you're probably not going to see it again. Sorry, but it's the truth! ( anyway, I hope your package defies the odds)

Next time, have your mom make sure to ask for a "direct signature," that way they can't leave it unattended at the door. Your work might be OK with you having it delivered there - that way someone is available to sign for it during the FedEx delivery hours.

I ordered an item and FedEx is delivering it to me. I was home all day and online it said that no one was home so they could not deliver the package. This was their second attempt and I am really fed up with FedEx. They left a slip on my door yesterday when they made their forst attempt. It says you may pick-up your package TODAY after 7:00 P.M. Yesterday is the Today in the slip. Can I still go and get my package since they also attempted to deliver it today?

Yes, the driver will be back at FedEx at 7p. Don't go earlier because that is when he is expected to return. You can sign for your package then.

How to get Fedex to deliver the package to the nearest Fedex location?

I ordered a package and it is currently in transit. How can I change the order so that instead of having it delivered to my house, I can have it delivered to the nearest Fedex location (no one will be at home on the scheduled day of delivery)?

Well they will leave a note(or a door tag) if they need a signature if they don't
they will just leave the package on your doorstep so you dont really need to change to a
fedex location

Innocent and attractive young woman suddenly transformed into repulsive (just my opinion) slut. Do I really have to explain this one? The cigarettes are also a HUGE turnoff- if you knew my Grandmother, you'd understand: Cigarettes = disgusting hag.

Honestly, Grease is one of my favorite musicals of all time- but that transformation was a big turnoff for me. When guys like me look at such women, one question comes to mind: What the heck am I going to catch from her?!

I am a women age 56 with good legs so I don't mind wearing a short skirt. I am not creative at all so any ideas for an easy costume would be greatly appreciaed.

It really depends on what you can do with your hair.
You could be Nancy Sinatra with boots and long straight blond hair, Patsy Cline in a litle sequined cowgirl outfit and a boufon hairdo, or Dianna Ross with a 60's style stewardess outfit and 60's hair.

Help on costumes for a "Then and Now" fashion show!?

I'm in charge of a fashion show at my church. The problem is that I don't know what men and women wore throughout the ages. I need a description on the types of clothing that people wore in the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's and the 90's. I need it for men and women, and types of accessories that they used would also be very helpful! Thank you so very much :)

50's: Poodle skirts, old timey high necklines, pin hair curls, high pony tails. Look at the movie Greece if you need a reference point.

60's: Tye Dye, peace-d out clothing, bell bottoms, headbands, circle glasses, face paint (for protestors)

70's: These times were more a transitional time between the 60's & 80's, I'd look online for this one because I'm not sure, sorry.

80's: Think Madonna here. Colored leggings, slouchy one shoulder tops, bangles, a lot of things that have come back "in" today were also in style during the 80's. Hair was ridiculous though, really big, & perms were very in.

90's: Hard for me to describe, so here's a link:

Hi everyone,

Ok so Im celebrating my birthday soon, it's my 18th so I want it be really special :)

I am looking to go with a themed party, I want it fun and sexy :) The kind of idea I want is... well it's hard to explain really.... you know the women from the 20's and 30's? That kind of movie star sexiness they had? I want it like that :)

I am quite full figured, so I think I would look great in say a fitted dress with some cleavage, or fitted black shirt and pencil skirt, with killer , red lipstick. There will be jazz music and the men will be in black suits.

So, if anyone knows of anyone plus-size online stores what will do these kind of costumes, or dresses, that are beautiful, sexy and elegant, and also available to me in the UK, let me know! :)

How many mid-age people have trouble w/friends (who are your own mid-age peers) telling you look "so old"?!?

I accept myself for who I am. I'm not the 25,35,45 yr old I was - I'm now in my 50's. I worked in entertainment in my younger yrs & had above avg appearance. Now, I'm an avg 50 something person w/no facelift & fatter than I was by about 30 lbs. I have had "old friends" tell me that I've "really gone downhill," "better lose weight," "you're not the person I remember," and "What Happened?" I have heard worse things get back to me about things said behind my back.

Yes, I used to be young, beautiful, better off financially, and more ready & able to entertain & take care of everyone, I moved on. I am now 50 something, sagging to some extent, slightly overweight (a woman's size 12), & Ok w/it.

I have sold many of my old costumes & retired from entertainment. They ask me "Why . . . are you depressed?!?" I say, "No, none of those fit anymore, I'll never use them & I have a new career." Still, I get frowns, grimaces, head-shaking, & now they no longer want to talk to me.

But no, sorry. Most people think I am actually in my 30's and I am 44. And guess what? I haven't had any surgery, either.

Though I can't imagine that makes you feel very good. I guess if you were like a stripper or something....the mindset of your 'peers' might still be in that venue, but I would say...as long as you are happy about yourself then who cares what they say? .

Drop your friends. That'll make you at least 300lbs lighter, right there!!

Healthiest way to grease antique, heavy, almost cast-iron cupcake pan?

The pan has 8 shapes, 4 of each suit if the cards (hearts, spades,etc). I'm tracing the bottoms and making wax-paper shapes to help, but what about the sides?
The girl at the counter told me to use a lot of Crisco, etc.
But if the bottom will come out, can I use a lite coating? Even Pam?
The tin is heavy liek cast-iron, but is light gray.

What is the best oil/fat/grease to season a cast iron pan with?

Commercial vegetable oil (Wesson or Mazola) is just fine. Actually the cheaper the oil, the "better the burn." Olive oil, sunflower, safflower and peanut oil (watch out if people with allergies will eat from this) and even corn oil will work.
Lard or bacon grease will usually give a softer coating which will wear off sooner than if vegetable oil is used.
The trick is once you get the "gummy layer" on, is to then bake the cast iron at no less than 500 degree to carbonize the oil layer.

I have really thick grease left on my cast iron pan. Can you tell me how to clean it?

My mother cooked pork on this pan last night and was too tired to clean it herself. How can I clean this without soap? Should I fill the sink with very and scrub the heck out of it with a Brillo pad? I can't put it in the dishwasher because it will get ruined.

Try using Arm & Hammer . Its really good at cleaning grease. Its also excellent for polishing silver without the scratches because its non abrasive, and it leaves your hands super soft. No harsh chemicals. Just put it in the pan dry, add a little water and when its a paste, just scrub. You can use a regular sponge. !

ok there is this kid in one of my classes and he always always has something to say about everything i say. me and him constanly argue like play fight. my teacher said it sounds like were married. at random times he tries to help me like giving me something for a project and one day i took a wrench as a pass and then got a call to go to the office and my teacher said are u sure u didnt hurt anyone and i go yeah and he took the wrench and wiped it on his clothes gettin grease on them and said well now the evidence is on me so she wont get in trouble joking around. i mean it sounds like he does but i dunno so i tried one day to get him to take a picture with me and he wouldnt hes like hell no no way. i dont know wether he hates me or likes me so please help with this one

Looking through the cast and crew for the two movies, it appears that only a couple of producers and the choreographer (filling the role of director) returned for the second movie.

From everything I know, Grease 2 was nothing but a money grab attempting to capitalize on the success of the original movie.

so i was flipping the channels today and saw that it was on. sure it was cheesy and could never hold a candle to the original but are there any fans of this one and why. who was your favorite character and why and what was your favorite song. i loved it well b/c it's the sequel and i was an early fan of michelle so i'd have to say stephanie was my favorite character b/c she was independent and stood up for herself. reproduction and whose that guy.

I have to admit to enjoying this movie when it was on VHS. My friends and I would watch it at sleepovers and sing the 'Girl For All Seasons'. Of course we knew all the words to all the songs. My favorite character was either the Paulette Rebchuck (sexy blonde who loves Adrian Zmed) or her little sister Dolores who tags along every where. Back then I was a real film connoisseur (not), of course I was only 15.

What are some unique (non slutty), coordinating halloween costumes for 2 16 year old girls?

I promised my cousin if he is Shaemus (the wrestler) for halloween i will go down and help him get ready and go trick or treating with him. That being the case, me and my best friend would like to dress in coordinating halloween costumes. We do not want to wear anything too revealing or slutty. I would like for it to be something really original and unique and not something that is easily bought at a party store. An example of something like that would be the pink ladies from grease. Its a unique costume but not something you would first think of for a teenager. I cannot be this however because a few girls from my school were that last october. Please give me your best ideas! thanks!!
